On April 17, Consul General Qin Jie attended the "International Chinese Language Day" celebration at Somaiya Vidyavihar University upon invitation and delivered a speech.

Qin said that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Chinese being designated as an official language of the United Nations, and April 20 is the 17th UN Chinese Language Day. As one of the oldest languages in the world, Chinese plays an important role in preserving Chinese civilization and fostering the identity of the Chinese nation. Language serves as an important bridge for promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. By studying Chinese, one can not only learn about China’s economic and technological achievements but also appreciate the wisdom of the East and the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The "Chinese language craze" continues to grow worldwide, and in India, many young people and even seniors are learning Chinese. He encouraged students to learn Chinese well, strengthen dialogue and exchanges with Chinese youth, and contribute to enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of China and India.

Around 80 faculty members and students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Somaiya Vidyavihar University participated in the event, presenting wonderful performances including Tang Dynasty poems, singing, dancing, tongue twisters and scenario story.
