March 7, Consul General Kong Xianhua visited Shivaji University in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, where he met with Vice Chancellor D.T. Shirke and faculty representatives for a discussion, and delivered a lecture titled "What is China" to students and faculty. Over 100 attendees including Mr. Sudheendra, a renowned Indian scholar, Mr. Yang Xiuhua, counselor of the Chinese Embassy, along with other diplomats, professors and students were present.
During the lecture, Consul General Kong systematically presented China's developmental achievements in economy, science & technology, infrastructure, and education through concrete data and case studies. He elucidated the historical, theoretical, and practical logic behind these accomplishments by reviewing the history of China's reform and opening-up policy. He emphasized that China and India are partners for mutual development rather than enemies, and called for enhanced people-to-people exchanges and collaborative development between the two nations.
In the interactive session, Consul General Kong and Chinese young diplomats engaged with students and teachers on topics related to bilateral friendship and cooperation. The atmosphere was warm and friendly .
