Consul General Kong Meets with Chairman of Dr.Kotnis Memorial Committee

On August 8, Consul General Kong Xianhua met with Mr. Rajendra Jadhav, Chairman of Dr. Kotnis Memorial Committee, and other members at Consul General’s residence. The two sides exchanged views on the spirit of Dr. Kotnis and China-India friendship and cooperation. 

Mr. Jadhav warmly congratulated Consul General Kong’s assumption of duty. He said the committee maintains close relationship with the Consulate General over the years and held many events together. Dr. Kotnis fought alongside with Chinese people and made great contribution for the cause of China’s liberation. As the Covid-19 Pandemic continues, we should  promote the spirit of Dr. Kotnis and support each other in this difficult time. This year marks the 80th anniversary of Dr. Kotnis’ death. The committee wishes to hold a memorial event with the Consulate General together. 

Consul General Kong expressed his appreciation for the contribution the committee has made over the years. He said Dr. Kotnis was a great friend of Chinese people who came to China in the most difficult time for Chinese nation, devoted himself to the great cause of resistance against Japanese invasion and finally sacrificed his life. As close neighbors and the biggest developing countries, China and India are both victims of colonialism but now both on the road of rapid development. People from all walks of life in both China and India should promote the spirit of Dr. Kotnis by enhancing coordination and mutual understanding. In that way, the two countries will advance cooperation and seize the historical opportunity for national revitalization.
