In early August, Consul General Kong Xianhua visited ICBC Mumbai Branch and BOC Mumbai Branch respectively and exchanged views with the managing boards.

The two banks extended appreciation for the continuous support and assistance from the Consulate General. They have conducted cooperation with local financial institutions, Chinese companies and leading Indian companies, winning a decent reputation. The past two years is a hard time for many Chinese companies in the consular district due to Covid-19 pandemic. The Mumbai Chinese Enterprise Association will strengthen coordination and make synergistic efforts for the bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Consul General Kong said it is not easy for the ICBC Mumbai Branch and BOC Mumbai Branch to stand the ground in Mumbai during the pandemic. China and India are neighbors. Cooperation and mutual benefits is the only way forward. The Chinese banks should further explore local markets, make new friends and create synergy with Indian customers. Chinese companies play an important role in promoting bilateral relationship. The Consulate General remains committed to serving the Chinese companies in the consular district wholeheartedly.
