On Feb 4th , Russian Consul General Aleksei Surovtsev sent a message to CG Tang Guocai to congratulate China on the opening of Beijing Winter Olympics.

Mr. Surovtsev said that the Beijing Winter Olympics would be opening today and athletes across the world would be participating in this grand sports event. He thanked China for the generous hospitality and the extraordinary organization. He also mentioned that President Putin would also attend the opening ceremony at invitation and meet president Xi Jinping. He would like to extend hearty congratulations to Beijing Winter Olympics and wish a happy Chinese New Year to all Chinese people on behalf of all the staff from Russian Consulate General in Mumbai.

Tang thanked Mr. Surovtsev for his warm and friendly wishes. He said that China would present a streamlined, safe and splendid Olympic Games to the world. He emphasized that the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Putin would be of far-reaching significance and highly remarkable. He wished all the athletes would achieve good results and fulfill the Olympic motto of Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together. A shared future shall be built by all of us together.
